Waldenburg, 27 October 2006 – R. STAHL AG has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with NHP Electrical Engineering Products Pty. Ltd. of Melbourne, Australia. NHP is Australia's largest supplier of industrial electrical and automation equipment and will distribute the complete R. STAHL product range as it excellently complements NHP's existing portfolio.
Together we want to quickly expand our Australian market position in explosion protected products and system solutions to become the leading supplier in Australia's growth market. The cooperation will begin during 2007.
NHP provides R. STAHL with a perfect foothold during a period in which Australia is rapidly gaining strategic importance as a global fuel supplier. The Australian government continues to promote its program of significant infrastructure investment to position Australia as a key regional and global supplier. Key areas for investment include exploring, mining and processing Australia’s vast natural gas deposits and is expected that Australia will become the world’s second largest supplier of liquefied natural gas (LNG) by 2015. Australia’s proximity to Asia offers significant advantage in servicing the strong growth in demand for fuel and other natural resources being generated in these markets. Agreements for the supply of LNG to Japan and China already exist and negotiations continue with other countries.
The handling of natural gas in production, processing, or transportation presents the strong risk of explosion. These installations are protected by legislation to ensure their safety and electrical equipment such as lighting, switchgear, and automation used in these applications must be explosion protected. R. STAHL specialises in this area of safety technology and is among leading manufacturers of explosion protected products in the world.
NHP has invested heavily in its national warehousing, distribution and production facility in Melbourne, Australia. The integrated facility will ensure R. STAHL realizes its strategic goal of shifting business emphasis to systems solutions.
